Brahmanand Sagun Kamat Shankhwalkar, a legendary goalkeeper from Taleigao, Goa, is an icon of Indian football. As Goa’s first Arjuna Awardee (1998), his contributions to the sport are unmatched. He played professionally for 25 years, with 17 years at Salgaocar SC. Leading Goa to Santosh Trophy victories in 1983 (joint winners) and 1984 (outright), he established his legacy as captain. Representing India, he participated in prestigious tournaments, including two Asian Games and three Nehru Cups. Named AIFF’s Player of the Decade (1996), Brahmanand remains a celebrated figure, now mentoring young talent as a coach at Sesa Football Academy.
